With several companions and a brother, he arrived at Council Bluffs on April 27 and followed the California Trail. On August 25, he recorded that his group made about $5 worth of gold dust. The remaining entries record his struggle for survival while mining for gold." Limited to sixty copies and went out of print soon after publication.
