Second edition.   Being a fantastic firsthand account of the Western Expansion in America during the last half of the 19th Century. Hill, at the time only 13 years old, crosed the plains with her family in 1864, at the height of the Indian uprising, making it a very hazardous journey. Hill states in her introduction: "But by thegrace of an all-wise providence we were unmolested." After making it across the Great Plains into Colorado Territory, the family joined a settlement in Empire City. The work contains wonderful insight into everyday life in the newly-settled Colorado Territory. Graff 1887. Howes H481.
