The inscription reads: "Hon. J.M. Perryman, Treasurer. C.N. Presented April 18th 1880 by P.Porter." Pleasant Porter was an American-Indian statesman and the last elected Principal Chief of Creek Nation, serving from 1899 until his death. Joseph M. Perryman was also a Principal Chief of Creek Nation from 1884-1888. He also served as a delegate from the Creek Nation to the Indian International Council.
